Movie: Shakuntala Devi (Hindi)

Story: Anu Menon/Ishita Moitra
Based on: The famous mathematician Mrs.Shakuntala Devi

Shakuntala Devi - Human Computer, Mental Calculator, Famous Mathematician, Renowned Astrologer and a self-made personality - all these are the adjectives used for Mrs.Shakuntala Devi. However, this movie gives a contrast picture of her - arrogant kid, insubordinate daughter, infidel wife, uncaring mother, heady character, selfish liar and may be one who could not predict her own life events, miscalculated her married life, obsessive and possessive, alcoholic and unconcerned - only to tarnish her garnered career. Some lives are better when not known in deep, giving others unnecessary chance to peep. Moreover, the film failed to focus on her legacy and whether her talent has been shared/transitioned to next generations to make more human computers, methodical institutions, mathematical findings and other useful events. Vidya did her best and well supported by other cast; but on the whole, this effort is just a clast (broken).
