Movie Review - Haider...

Movie: Haider (Hindi)

Haider - An adaptation of a tragedy amalgamated with burning border issue ends in tears and ash. Alas, this effort seems at the end for a regular cine-goer, a trash. Such a talented cast, hugely popular source, scenic locations, intense performances, mighty budget; and the outcome just makes all these to forget. There is a term called 'Chutzpah' meaning 'extreme self confidence or courage/audacity that allows someone to do or say things that may seem shocking to others' and this movie is one such Chutzpah made by the Director. Seems only his name (Vishal) is broader and not mind and thinking, while making this. On a whole, this seems a test for patience (coincidentally Hamlet is Shakespeare's longest play) with no pace and low grace. More common sense should have prevailed while dealing with sensitive issues such as Kashmir conflict. Showing the negative side for more than 2.5 hours visually and trying to project the positives in a 2.5 line statement verbally at the end does not serve the purpose. For normal audience, this Haider probably prompts for a Hider.
